“Blue flags” are proudly flutter above the beaches of Israel
Nine Israeli beaches have received the “Blue Flag” of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). It was reported by “Globes”. “Blue Flag” – an international award, given annually to beaches and marinas, where water meets the highest quality standards and suitable for safe swimming. The Israeli beaches joined the list of 4000 holiday destinations marked by “Blue Flag” for the first time in 2013.
It is about such popular places for swimming, as the beach of Tel Aviv “Metzitzim” and “Jerusalem” (“Opera”), “The Onot”, “Sironit” and “Poleg” in Netanya, the “Lido” and “Yud-Alef” in Ashdod, “Dado” in Haifa and “Hof ha shhafim” located between the Eilat hotels “Herods” and “Dan”. The list also includes two yacht berth – “Marina Tel Aviv” and “Marina Herzliya.”
Israel’s participation in the “Blue Flag” program is an important step in the development of ecological tourism. It is not worth to notice that the “Blue Flag” is awarded for a year, so these and other Israeli beaches have to re-take the examination for compliance with international standards of rest in the following season.
