Here we present you a minimal vocabulary in Hebrew. But first of all what you need to know about that language.

Hebrew (???????? – «Hebrew”) – the official language of Israel, and it’s an ancient form of the traditional language of Judaism. Almost 2000 years Hebrew was considered a “dead” language. Today, it is spoken by 8 million people, to five million it is the primary language. Hebrew sounds softly and melodiously by vowel sounds, although the letter they indicated some specific way. The emphasis in most word falls on the last syllable.

So, let’s start with the words that are usefull to know for every tourist in Israel.

1. “Hello”, “hello” – pronounced “shalom” (there is a version of “halo”)
2. “Thank you” – “toda”
3. “Please” – “bevakasha”
4. “I’m sorry” – “sliha”
5. “Good” – “tov” or “beseder”
6. “Yes” – “ken”
7. “No” – “lo”
8. “My name is” – “shmi …”
9. “Goodbye” – “lehitraot”
10. “Good night” – “laila tov”

Useful Hebrew phrases.

1. “Do you speak (language)?” – “Ata medaber … (anglit, russit, tsrfatit…)?” – for man. Or (If you are talking with woman) “at medaberet ?”
2. “I booked a room” – “Yesh li ha-zmana.”
3. “Do you have room?” – “Yesh lahem heder?”
4. “Can I see the room?” – “Efshar lirot et ha-heder?”
5. “Recommend me a good restaurant” – “tuhal lehamlits al misada tova.”
6. “Where is inexpensive restaurant?” – “Eipho efshar limtso misada sola?”
7. “I want to reserve a table” – “Ani rotse lehazmin shulhan.”
8. “Where is the toilet?” – “Eipho sherutim?”
9. “How much is a ticket to …?” – “Kama ze ole kartis le.”
10. “I lost my way” – “Ani lo edea eupho ani.”
