Tamar Festival. September 21-25, 2013.

The Tamar Festival is an annual festival held deep in the desert of southern Israel near the Dead Sea during the Sukkot holiday. It is one of Israel’s largest music festivals, featuring some of Israel’s greatest musicians as well as music from around the world all in a unique and powerful setting in Israel’s Negev Desert. This year festival runs over Sukkot – September 21-25 and will host some incredible talent, including the following: Idan Raichel, Erez Lev Ari, Evitar Banai, Mosh Ben Ari, Barry Sacharov, Danny Robas, Ester Rada, Shlomi Shaban, Ivri Lider and Keren Ann.

The Festival takes place at three venues:
– the Kikar Sdom Villages – a magical setting in the desert;
– the Masada National Park, where many of the sunrise concerts enable the breathtaking sunrise over the desert and Dead Sea to provide a unique ambiance;
– the Kibbutz Ein Gedi Botanical Park.

Due to the unique desert setting, the Tamar Festival offers more than just music – with daily events including hikes and tours taking advantage of the beauty of the area, as well as children’s activities, and tours of the agricultural and community that this area of the Negev has seen.

The four-day festival offers a multisensory experience of music, freedom, nature and attractions and draws varied audiences from all over Israel.
