The Ministerial Committee for the Development of the Negev and the Galilee approved the program for the development and positioning of the resort city of Eilat as an international sports destination. The objective of the program is to help the city of Eilat establish an international sports complex that will serve as a center for hosting athletes from Israel and overseas. The complex, when completed, will help Eilat bid to host major international events while providing local athletes with quality facilities in which to train. (more…)
El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. has announced the launch of UP, a new low-cost airline into Israel. From March 30, 2014 UP will offer a total of 50 flights per week from five destinations within Europe to Israel, including Berlin, Budapest, Kiev, Prague and Larnaca. The basic one-way fare will be $69 to Prague and Budapest, and $100 to Berlin, Kiev, and Larnaca. (more…)

Ben-Gurion International Airport inaugurated a new passengers hall for low-cost overseas flights in the older Terminal 1, a step expected to help lower the cost of flights between Israel and Europe. For decades, Terminal 1 was the main terminal for all flights into and out of Ben Gurion Airport. In 2004, the Airports Authority opened the more modern Terminal 3, with facilities to serve as many as ten million passengers coming into and leaving Israel each year. (more…)

The Tamar Festival is an annual festival held deep in the desert of southern Israel near the Dead Sea during the Sukkot holiday.
